Where are our freedoms today?

The United States of America is called ‘The land of the free’ and they learned it from us in the UK.

Where are our freedoms today?

We have not been allowed freely to worship in Church for over a year now.  We are not allowed to go out for a meal.  We cannot even go to the pub.  Grandparents have been forbidden from visiting grandchildren and the children have been denied the opportunity to attend school.

On top of that, the government dictate where you can meet people, who you can meet and how many can meet together.  You are prohibited from leaving the country and if you do not agree, you are not even allowed to protest.

No, this is not East Germany or North Korea I am talking about.  The enforcers are not the Gestapo or the Stazi.  This is happening here in the UK as well as in many other so called democracies.

Opposition to government policy is now being supressed brutally.  What has been creeping on us for years now is coming out into the open.  When reporters are jailed for trying to expose corruption, you know something is wrong.  When an entire troup of riot police turn up on a doorstep in the early hours of the morning to advise someone they are thinking the wrong way, we know we are going down the same route as the Nazis did in the 1930s.

We need to wake up to the fact that we have allowed to government to assume too much power already.  The government no longer believe that they work for us, they look upon us as their subjects who are to follow the orders of the superior elite.

Consider how they have run roughshod over the people of Northern Ireland, and in the process, have revived militancy which has been lying low for 20 years.  What alternative do the loyalists in NI have?  They were promised 20 years ago no changes to the position of NI within the UK without the consent of the people.  This consent has not been given, indeed has not been sought, yet they have erected a barrier between NI and the rest of the UK to prevent one being erected between NI and a foriegn country.

If the government have so little concern for keeping their promises or in looking after their own people, then there is no point at which they will stop.  There is a much bigger picture going on here which is hidden from the general population.  Theresa May warned no British Prime Minister would ever agree to creating a new customs barrier in the Irish Sea, but that is exactly what Boris Johnson’s government has done.

Where is the freedom of the people of NI?  Where is our freedom?
