Fraserburgh and District By-Election
Vote for Conrad Ritchie on 7 November 2024
If you want a locally based born and bred Councillor then you can count on me to stand for you and your families best interests. Please remember liking this post is one thing, but it’s only your votes that can help me make the difference that is needed. I hope I can count on your support on the 7th of November in the Fraserburgh and District By-Election to help me make that a reality.
My name is Conrad Ritchie, I was born in Fraserburgh hospital in 1972, my Mam was a teacher, and at the time my Dad had just completed his apprenticeship at “The Toolies” in Fraserburgh and was studying mechanical engineering at Strathclyde University. My Mam worked hard to support my Dad through his further education. I must state that my parents were a large part of who I am today and I am trying my best to continue that ethic and legacy as best as I can.
Attending St Combs Primary School for my early years of education and then onto Fraserburgh Academy, leaving in 1988 to start my Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship at family founded, Score UK in Peterhead. I was not academic by nature but I was driven, and had the benefit of being born with common sense, which has proven invaluable throughout my life. During my apprenticeship I attended Banff and Buchan College of Further Education in Fraserburgh, which I thoroughly enjoyed, being fortunate to be taught and mentored by some utterly fantastic local people.
Within my 34 years of service at Score Group I held many roles rising to the post of Managing Director. I am particularly proud of the multi award winning apprentice programme which we grew to be the largest in the country, training over 1500 people to a very high standard. I miss the mentoring and interaction with these young ladies and gentlemen so very much. That said the whole journey was a vocation rather than a job, it saw me travel the world installing North East Scottish ethics, mentality and respect in the 36 global locations that were built up.
As a life long Conservative voter and strong Unionist (following a successful 2017 GE result), in 2018 I became the local Tory Association Chairman. With determination I was appointed on to the approved candidates list to stand for the party. However, I was dropped and unsupported by the Tory unelected elite in Edinburgh, following an unfounded allegation of racism in 2019 by an SNP/MEP. This proved to be a huge turning point in my political beliefs and after careful deliberation I am now fully on board with Reform UK Scotland’s policies and ethics.
Today I am the chairman of 3 local charities, Crimond Community Hub – Charitable Trust (medical and community hub), Peterhead Prison Museum (5* visitor attraction including ex Peterhead RNLI Julia Park Barry) and Men United SCIO (award wining men’s mental health charity). I like to keep my finger on the pulse, striving to help others, and having a very strong community based outlook on life. I like to help others to help themselves and be the best they can be.
