Alec Leishman was born in Paisley and raised in Ferguslie and Hunterhill, growing up as part of a large extended family with strong local roots. He attended Williamsburgh and Lochfield Primary Schools before going on to Castlehead High School.
His further studies and working life took him across Scotland, where he built a varied career, earning his living in roles including housing management and retail bookselling. These experiences have given him a broad understanding of the challenges facing both communities and local businesses.
Alec is currently an elected councillor and serves as the Reform UK Group Leader at Renfrewshire Council, where he represents residents and speaks up on local issues.
He lives in Foxbar with his husband and a lively household of pets. Outside of politics, Alec is an avid and lifelong supporter of St Mirren FC.
He is 48 years old.
