“As well as reducing tax levels for all workers, Reform want to protect farmers and food security in Midlothian South Tweeddale and Lauderdale and allow small businesses to grow by reducing business rates.”
I was born and raised in Glasgow and in 2005 came to work in the Borders on a six-month contract in IT. I liked it so much I moved here permanently in 2010.
My background is in newspaper advertising and IT. I have worked in the Borders now for almost 20 years, latterly supporting schools IT in the area and concentrating on Galashiels primaries up until 2016. I also delivered prescriptions during the pandemic and retired in March of last year after another spell working in IT support.
I am living and working in the Borders because I love the people here. They are very friendly and community minded with good family values. I particularly enjoy local traditions, including the common ridings, which are a great and unique feature of this beautiful area.
In my spare time I enjoy wildlife photography and travelling around the Scottish countryside, which is one reason why I am concerned about the proliferation of energy farms throughout the country, particularly around Lauder, Stow and Heriot. I have been campaigning against them and against Net Zero for the past year.
I am standing for Reform because they believe in family, community and country, values that are highly held in the Borders and Midlothian area.
