I have dedicated my entire working life to public service. I served for 25 years in the British Army, completing operational tours of duty in Northern Ireland (during the Troubles), Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sierra Leone. My time in the Army taught me unique and valuable skills, instilled strong values, and shaped the person I am today.
After leaving the Army, I continued my service to the country by working for 15 years as a civil servant with the Ministry of Defence.
Following my retirement, I wanted to give something back at a local and community level. For the past six years, I have chaired and run a community group in Fife. The work has been challenging but rewarding, helping to revitalise a run-down area and create a renewed sense of community pride and responsibility. Our efforts have been recognised and covered by local media.
This experience gave me a hunger to do more and to make a real difference to people’s lives. With my background in leadership, problem-solving, and community engagement, I believe the time is right for me to stand as a councillor for the Buckhaven, Methil & Wemyss ward — and I believe Reform UK is the right banner to do this under.
On a personal note, I am married to Karen and, between us, we have five daughters and a lively family dog. I enjoy gardening, walking (which makes street campaigning less arduous), and the occasional visit to the local pub!
Finally, I want to share something close to my heart. Shortly before my father passed away, he told me he no longer recognised the country he grew up in and despaired at the state of our nation. His words resonated deeply with me and sparked a determination to act rather than simply watch from the sidelines.
I don’t just want to read the news — I want to help write it. This country needs Reform. BMW ward needs Reform.
